Strides Across Texas

In the summer of 2009, Houston 93Q radio personality Kevin Kline pledged to run an ultramarathon of nearly 500 miles across Texas in 13 days to raise funds and awareness for Texas Children’s Cancer Center research and patient treatment. Kline trained for an entire year to run “Strides across Texas,” which ended on the steps of Texas Children’s Cancer Center on New Year’s Day 2010. “Strides Across Texas” raised more than $130,000 and generated more than 100 media placements with an estimated media value of $500,000.


CSIR: Case Study Investor Relations
Every two years, National Investor Relations Institute-Houston (NIRI) hosts a regional conference to offer fresh programming and experiential learning to attract attendees. Several members of Noble's investor relations team were placed on the board of NIRI to broaden the conference's appeal. CSIR: Case Study Investor Relations was developed as the conference theme, and the educational program was written in a Harvard Business School-style format. The event received exceptional acclaim from attendees and sponsors for the quality of educational content and scored an average 4.9 out of 5 rating on post conference evaluation surveys.

TexanPlus Wii Bowling Championship

TexanPlus is Universal American’s provider of Medicare Advantage plans in Southeast Texas. TexanPlus charged Vollmer Public Relations with producing a city-wide Wii bowling tournament that would engage seniors in the company’s mantra, “Healthy Collaboration.” The goal was to gain TexanPlus high visibility leading into the marketing window for the 2010 Medicare Annual Election Period. Vollmer successfully met TexanPlus’ objectives and obtained more media coverage than any other Medicare Advantage provider in the region at the onset of the 2010 Medicare Annual Election Period. The event resulted in more than $1.1 million in publicity value and more than 13 million impressions.


25 Years, 25 Bikes: 2009 BP MS 150 Bike Ride 25th Anniversary

In 2009, the BP MS 150 Houston to Austin Bike Ride celebrated its 25th anniversary and FKM was charged with commemorating the anniversary. The criteria was to create an event that would attract significant media attention, engage the community, commemorate 25 years and link back to the National MS Society’s mission. The Art Bike Project was the result. It provided 25 donated bikes as a palette for local artists to celebrate the compelling stories of BP MS 150 cyclists. To promote the project, FKM held a public press conference and put up displays of the Art Bikes at key, high-traffic locations throughout Houston. The press conference had unprecedented media attendance and generated more than $360,000 in publicity value.


A Generation of Forgotten Vietnam Vets: Campaign for Recognition

Capt. John Poindexter led Alpha Troop of the 11th Armored Calvary Regiment in Vietnam. Forty ears after a courageous mission to save nearly 100 Americans
surrounded by enemy forces, he published an account of the mission and submitted the troop for the prestigious Presidential Unit Citation (PUC). Seven years later, the PUC notification arrived as an unceremonious communication to Alpha Troop’s home base. Capt. Poindexter felt that surviving Vietnam veterans deserved more acknowledgement for their sacrifices. He enlisted Pierpont Communications to develop and execute a national media campaign to capture the attention of the White House. By breathing new life into Alpha Troop's Story, they were recognized in a White House Rose Garden Ceremony officiated by President Obama. Worldwide media coverage exceeded 478 million impressions and stories were published, broadcast and aired in 425 media outlets around the world.
