Houston PRSA Members Win TPRA Best of Texas Competition

TPRA Announces Silver Spur/Best of Texas Award Winners

 

The Texas Public Relations Association (TPRA) has completed the 2006 Silver Spur/Best of Texas Awards Competition, and several PRSA-Houston members are on the winners list:

 

     Nancy Sims, Tiffany Smith, Cheyanna Smith and Nikki Dowdy of of Pierpont Communications  received a Silver Spur for their community relations Principal for a Day Program for Hibernia Bank.

     Debbie Sharp and Tiffancy Travis of Tessada & Associates and the NASA Johnson Space Center received a Silver Spur for the media relations Holiday Space Food Campaign.

     Shell Oil Company’s "All Together Now”: Royal Dutch Shell Unification Celebration, entered by Pam Rosen, received a Silver Spur in the special event category.

     Brad Thomas of InDyne, Inc. and the NASA Johnson Space Center received a Best of Texas Silver for the feature story In the Wake of the Storm.

     Catherine Borsché of Tessada & Associates and the NASA Johnson Space Center Office of Public Affairs received a Best of Texas Silver for the feature story Mind Games.

     Liz Johnson of the Port of Houston Authority received a Best of Texas Bronze for the feature story Expressions of Gratitude & Appreciation.

     Lisa Merkl of the University of Houston received a Best of Texas Merit for the technical article Glowing Zebrafish Shed Light on Biological Clocks.

     La Chanda Jenkins and Trevor Mitchell of the Houston Housing Authority received a Best of Texas Merit for the annual Report to the Community 2004.

     Nan Powers Varoga of the Houston A+ Challenge received a Best of Texas Silver for the electronic newsletter enotes.

     Sandra Soliz and Tom Overton of the University of St. Thomas received a Best of Texas Merit for the external newsletter UST Insider.

     Kimberlee Barbour of the Baylor College of Medicine received a Best of Texas Merit for the internal newsletter BCM Family.

     Enbridge Energy Company’s Public Affairs department received a Best of Texas Merit for the internal newsletter Upstream Downstream.

     Michelle Herskowitz of Shell Oil Company received a Best of Texas Silver for the special purpose publication U.S. Trademark Licensing Manual.

     Patty Sendelbach, Tiffany Heikkila and Jamie Kincaid of Hill & Knowlton and The Welch Foundation received a Best of Texas Silver for the special video project Hackerman Award Video.

     George Kovacik and Billy Miller of the Baylor College of Medicine received a Best of Texas Bronze for the special video project The Body Explained.

     Julie Grayum, Judy Goldberg, Jaime Belden, Lopez Negrete Communications and Bank of America received a Best of Texas Bronze for the special video project Holistic DVD.

     Newman & Newman, Inc. and Guidestone Financial Resources received a Best of Texas Bronze for the special video project A Gift of Dignity.

     Kendra Phipps of Tessada & Associates and the Johnson Space Center Office of Public Affairs received a Best of Texas Merit for the Return to Flight "Behind the Scenes" Series on JSC Features.

     The Communications Staff at the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University received a Best of Texas Merit for the external magazine Tierra Grande.

 

The Houston PRSA Chapter partnered with TPRA to sponsor the 2006 Silver Spur/Best of Texas Awards Competition. Chapter members entered the contest at the "member" rate, and the chapter will receive a share of the contest proceeds.

 

Silver Spur and Best of Texas Awards will be presented at the annual awards banquet Feb. 25 at the Omni Southpark in Austin during TPRA''s Annual Conference.
