HOUSTON, (June 8, 2005) — The Houston Chapter of the International Association of Business Communications (IABC/Houston) has issued a Call For Entries for its annual Bronze Quill Awards which will be held on August 25, 2005, at the Hilton Houston Post Oak. Business Wire and Skyline Exhibits have signed on as sponsors for the awards ceremony.
“The IABC/Houston Bronze Quill Awards honor excellence in organizational communication,” says Pam McConathy, Senior Vice President with Pierpont Communications and IABC/Houston 2005 Bronze Quill chairperson. “The competition is open to all communication professionals and students – members and non-members of IABC – who produced communications work in 2004.”
The IABC/Houston 2005 Bronze Quill Award Ceremony will present a salute to “Reality Communications,” featuring senior communicators who will recognize award winners and share career highlights described as “Reality Communications Moments.” Ceremony attendees will choose their favorite and vote on a “Communication Idol” at the conclusion of the program.
Michael Garfield, “The High Tech Texan®,” has been selected as master of ceremonies for the event. A graduate of University of Texas at Austin, Garfield hosts “The High-Tech Texan® Show with Michael Garfield” each Saturday afternoon on Talk Radio 950 KPRC-AM in Houston. On the show, Michael interviews industry guests, hosts listener call-ins, and offers product reviews, tips and opinions.
Deadline for Bronze Quill entries is June 13, 2005, with a late deadline of June 17, 2005. Entries will be accepted in the categories of: communications programs and campaigns, management processes, publications, writing, audio/visual presentations, electronic and interactive communications, design, photography and illustration and student projects.
