May 5: Houston Chronicle’s Jeff Cohen to Address PRSA Houston

Cohen, a Wyoming native, spent his childhood in Houston and has a special interest in state and city affairs. He is a graduate of Bellaire High School and a journalism graduate of the University of Texas. Cohen began his career as a sportswriter for the San Antonio Light then made his way up the ladder as an award-winning editor of the Albany Times-Union. He joined the Houston Chronicle – the seventh largest newspaper in the U.S. – in 2002. Cohen is a pioneer in newspaper website design and management. Chron.com has won many awards.

Tell Us About Your Business in a Business Directory Listing
Thank you Sharon Dotson, APR, Bayou City Public Relations, for renewing her firm’s Business Directory Listing. Several firms have asked PRSA Houston how they can get more from their membership.
Involvement in PRSA Houston is the best option, but a firm might want to list itself on the Business Directory as well.
For the low price of $100 for a year, a business and its specialties are noted on one of the top sites Googled for “public relations & Houston.” This also helps us with the calls we get asking for specific expertise.
PRSA Houston: Your Career Source
Four jobs were posted in this month’s Job Bank, and three are, now, inactive, because the candidate list was excellent. Look first to PRSA Houston for postings about new opportunities. If you have openings or internships, please consider posting the job with PRSA Houston.
PRSA Houston also has a free resume service in which members may post their resumes on the website. Employers may go to the same link and search the resumes posted. This is a completely free service that has been offered by PRSA Houston for more than a year. You may also sign up for a free career newsletter that tells of recent postings. Just go to your profile on www.prsahouston.org (requires log-in) to add this option.
