PRSA Houston''s PRSSA Liaison Committee Renamed University Relations Committee to Serve Additional Colleges and Universities

The PRSA Houston Liaison Committee has become the University Relations Committee to expand its reach to students at colleges and universities that do not yet have established PRSSA Chapters.

The University Relations Committee provides public relations students with access to public relations professionals, activities and programs that will strengthen their skills and prepare them for a career in public relations or a related field.

The committee is working with students and professors at Texas Southern University to establish a PR Club on campus. The University''s Department of Communication is short three courses that are needed to establish a PRSSA chapter on campus. The PR Club will allow students to increase learning opportunities in public relations and developing leadership skills while these courses are considered.

The University Relations Committee is seeking input from the Southern Arizona PRSA Chapter, which recently helped establish a PR Club at the University of Arizona.

The PRSA Houston chapter supports PRSSA students at Sam Houston State University (http://www.shsu.edu/~org_prssa/), Texas A&M University http://prssa.tamu.edu/index.html) and the University of Houston (http://www.uh.edu/prssa/).

The University Relations Committee members include Kelly Papinchak, chair; Mari Pillar, co-chair; and Cheyenna Smith. For more information, please contact Kelly Papinchak at kpapinchak@schipul.com or 281-497-6567 Ext.508.
