The Public Relations Foundation of Houston, which supports PR growth and development, is pleased to report that its year-ending balance of $117,884, which is a 15 percent increase, or $15,383, over 2012.
Most notably, the foundation received $10,495 in contributions from individuals, the PRSA Houston Chapter and the annual silent auction. These donations totaled $6,511 less than the previous year.
In other highlights, the foundation:
• awarded a $3,000 scholarship to Gerry Espinal-Franco, an undergraduate student studying public relations and philosophy at the University of Houston.
• sponsored five students from the University of St. Thomas to attend the January 2014 writing seminar. “Writing the Write” in honor of the chapter’s November 2013 luncheon speaker, Nicole. B. Cásarez.
• sponsored the November PRSA chapter meeting, raising more than $2,300 for the James K. Hart fund.
The foundation invites all professional communications to support us through individual or company contributions (remember to give locally when you renew your membership), by donating and/or purchasing items in our silent auction or by attending the fall luncheon when a portion of proceeds will benefit the fund. We also welcome your contribution as a volunteer.
