Houston Media Vote on Media Relations Professional of the Year, Nominees Announced

For the first time in Excalibur Awards history, the awards committee reached out to the local media, and asked, “Who stands out in the crowd of PR professionals you work with on a regular basis?” The committee received responses from over two dozen editors, reporters and journalists from all over Houston. The three nominees below received the highest number of votes. Find out who among them stood out from the rest tomorrow night!

Here are the top three nominees and an excerpt from their nomination:

Alicia Cahill

City of Galveston

“She always answers my questions and, if she doesn’t know an answer, finds out quickly. She returns calls promptly and never forgets to call back. You never have to ask her twice for information or have to call her back — she calls first. She is knowledgeable, friendly and easy to work with. Most importantly, she makes our job easier. She is unbelievably fast and resourceful and always available.”

Kim Padgett

The Padgett Group

“There are a number of talented PR professionals with whom I deal every day, but one stands out for serving both her clients and our newspapers’/websites’ needs. She understands the varying requirements of the media and tailors her approach to our specific needs. Instead of feeling like you’re dealing with someone who is being pushy about something you don’t want, you feel as if you’re working with someone who is making your job easier and more efficient.”

Heather Saucier

Harris County Flood Control District

“She gives great story pitches. In the case of less favorable publicity for the agency, she gives facts and doesn’t insult a reporter’s intelligence with inaccurate spin. In addition, she returns calls quickly, keeps her cell phone on, and can line up interviews on short notice. And if she can’t do something, she’ll tell you.”
