UH President Dr. Renu Khator Discusses Use of PR During Tier One Journey

About 75 PR pros and students attended the PRSA Houston's monthly luncheon on Nov. 3 featuring University of Houston President and System Chancellor Dr. Renu Khator. Dubbed a “Pep Rally for PR," attendees learned how Dr. Khator is using PR strategies and tactics to take the university to Tier One status.    In her remarks, Dr. Khator reiterated the power of messaging. She said that while words certainly matter, it's the emotion, commitment, staging and follow-up actions that make a message memorable.

Following the meeting, Dr. Khator spoke with UH alum and PRFH board member Justin Concepcion about how Houston as a city – not just UH – could benefit from achieving the Tier One status goal. She also shared a “wish list” for PR pros about the need for ongoing mentoring and internship support in addition to scholarships.
