Media Mixer Committee  
  Description: This committee creates opportunities to interact with media.
  Mission: The committee will be moving from a breakfast-time event to one on a rotating schedule. We are changing the name of the event from “Media Breakfast” to something that is better descriptive. When we promote each event, the committee will specify whether the event is a “PRSA a.m. Media Mixer” or a “PRSA p.m. Media Mixer.”
Membership Committee  
  Mission: Statement of Purpose To assist Houston Chapter of PRSA in reaching its annual membership recruitment and retention goals and to actively promote the organization to the greater Houston community. To welcome prospective members and new members to the organizatio
Mentoring  
  Description: The PRSA Houston mentoring committee aims to provide members and nonmembers the opportunity to help colleagues improve their skills and advance their careers. The committee’s mission is create a mentor program that fosters mutually rewarding, self-selected professional relationships among senior, mid-level, and junior-level professionals.
 
The committee’s priorities for 2010 include hosting a series of mentoring “Match-Up” mixers, developing a mentoring luncheon program, creating an online mentor/mentee database, and increasing participation in the mentor program by seasoned professionals.
New Professionals  
  Mission: The mission of the PRSA Houston New Professionals Group is to support PRSA Houston chapter goals while providing new professionals with a valuable outlet to expand their knowledge of public relations through networking and professional development opportunities. PR Foundation of Houston Committee

  Mission: To secure the future of public relations and the overall field of communication, quality individuals must enter the profession. These new practitioners must be highly educated and primed to deal with increasingly complex communication challenges ahead. Programs Committee  
  Description: The Programs Committee identifies and secures speakers for monthly luncheon programs, works closely with the Professional Development committee and provides event details to Web master, newsletter editor and administrator for promotional purposes.
PRSA Houston Administrator  
  Mission: Coordinate information on events, sponsorship opportunities, membership, accreditation, job and directory listings and assist chapter members as needed.
Public Service  
  Description:

The Public Service Committee will act as a liaison by connecting PRSA Houston and the local community through a) volunteer activities and b) community development programs. We will provide opportunities for PRSA members to share their expertise, time and resources with non-profit and educational organizations throughout the Houston area.

Mission: Our 2010 plans include: Establishing a partnership with Jack Yates High School’s Communication Magnet Program to support our future PR and Communication practitioners
University Relations/PRSSA  
  Mission: The Education Committee provides public relations students with access to public relations professionals, activities and programs that will strengthen their skills and prepare them for a career in public relations or a related field.
