The program seeks to improve public relations practice. The designation Accredited in Public Relations (APR)signifies a high professional level of experience and competence.

Got Podcasting? PRSA Houston Does! PR Day Annual Meeting and Luncheon Available Online as Podcast

The Houston Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) is taking online technology to the next level by offering a podcast of its Annual PR Day luncheon to its members and friends. Podcasting is a form of RSS that allows site visitors to obtain audio content, typically mp3 files, from a Web site so they may listen with an audio player at a location other than a computer. One such example is Apple's iPod.

The "Proving PR Value" luncheon was attended by close to 200 people, and we know that many others wanted to attend but are tending to Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.

Bernadette A. Morris served as luncheon emcee She is the founder and chairman of Sonshine Communications and president, owner and founder of Black PR Wire, Inc.

Tony Wyllie served as moderator of the luncheon panel. He is Vice President of Communications for the Houston Texans and is responsible for shaping and molding the image of the team in the public and the community.

Christine R. McGee, APR - Christine McGee is the vice president of Marketing for Houston-based Weatherford International Ltd., one of the world's largest oilfield service companies.

Graham Painter, APR - Graham Painter is senior vice president of Corporate Communications for Sterling Bank and for its parent company, Sterling Bancshares, Inc., a Houston-based bank holding company with assets of $3.4 billion operating 36 banking offices in the greater metropolitan areas of Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio.

John E. "Ned" Walker - Ned Walker is senior vice president of Worldwide Corporate Communications for Continental Airlines, Inc. (www.continental.com) Walker is responsible for employee communications, public relations, community affairs and corporate events.

Steve Stuyck - Steve Stuyck is vice president for Public Affairs at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center. In this capacity, he is responsible for leading a team of five departments devoted to fulfilling the cancer center's mission in community outreach and public service.
