The purpose of accreditation is to unify and advance the profession by identifying those who have demonstrated broad knowledge, experience and professional judgment in the field. The program seeks to improve public relations practice. The designation Accredited in Public Relations (APR)signifies a high professional level of experience and competence.

2010 PRSA Excalibur Awards for Excellence
This annual competition honors outstanding professional accomplishments in the development and execution of comprehensive public relations programs and individual communications tactics.
Gold, Silver and Bronze Excalibur Awards will be presented to talented PR professionals in dozens of categories at an event in June. We also will recognize the CEO Communicator of the Year and the Legacy Award Winner.
Previous winners of the CEO Communicator of the Year award have included 2009: John Sheptor, President and Chief Executive Officer of Imperial Sugar
2008: John Hofmeister, former President of Shell Oil Company
2007: Sam Holtzman, President and CEO of LifeGift
