Job Description

 

DESCRIPTION:

The JCC of Houston is interviewing for a Part-Time Public Relations Coordinator to join the Marketing & Communications Department. The Public Relations Coordinator will develop and implement a strategic communication program that publicizes agency-wide programs, activities and special events. This is a part-time position - 25 hours/wk.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement an internal and external communications plan for the JCC congruent with the marketing calendar
  • Develop creative and proactive media outreach strategies for highlighting JCC programs, activities and special events
  • Manage, publish and edit agency-wide monthly newsletter
  • Write and distribute press releases and media alerts
  • Maintain a strong working relationship with key media contacts, as well as key staff members to ensure excellent visibility and media coverage of JCC programs
  • Act as liaison with the media for special events and activities
  • Catalog and archive all press clippings

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in media relations, community relations or public relations

Position Reports To: Renee Harris, Director of Marketing

This Job Requires the Following Skills:

  • Outstanding communications, writing, and editing skills with a high level of attention to detail
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and meet strict deadlines
  • Ability to work with diverse groups, including volunteers, staff and agency representatives
  • Non-profit experience preferred

Education Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or related field

Location: Houston, TX


Position Type: Part Time

Travel Required: 10% of the time (approximate)
