Description
- Supports the Regional and Corporate Communications efforts.
- Provides employee, media, stakeholder, and community relations and communications support for the Company. Helps to create, plan, research, write and implement internal and external communications marketing plans and will also research and write compelling communications materials including press releases, fact sheets, brochures, marketing plans and material, internet, intranet and employee communications.
- Develops key messages in line with corporate and regional events and initiatives, developing concepts and writing scripts for video and multimedia presentations, and general writing and editing.
- The individual in this position will need to be able to learn about nuclear, coal, gas, wind, solar, and new power generation and emission control technologies and then be able to translate these and other complex principles into terms that can be easily understood by a variety of audiences such as employees, potential shareholders, business partners, the public, members of the media, and others inquiring about NRG.
- This position requires creativity, diplomacy, and the ability to work with a wide variety of employees at all levels.

Experience
- Media relations and professional writing experience are essential to this position.
- Marketing and industrial communications experience is desired.
- Superb communication skills are required as well as the ability to work closely with senior management, overseeing projects from concept to completion.
- A Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field is required along with at least 4 years experience in communications, including professional writing for internal and external clients.
- Candidate needs a strong grasp of web and multimedia technologies. Candidate should have strong skills with Microsoft Office; knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint and Dreamweaver software is a plus.
- Candidates must have good organizational, cross-departmental and project management skills.
