PRSA Houston New Professionals Group invites you to learn from KHOU-TV Director of Public Relations Wendy Burkeen, APR, about the day-to-day challenges and excitement of managing public relations for a television station.
The meeting will take place Thursday, March 17, 2005 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at KHOU-TV, 1945 Allen Parkway.
Burkeen will share her experiences in determining how to position KHOU-TV and its employees in the community, with a focus on public relations efforts for the station. While she is not involved in evaluating pitches to the newsroom, Burkeen provides plenty of counsel on how to pitch to the station's editors. Burkeen is full of energy and attendees are promised to leave feeling more motivated than ever about a career in communications!
Burkeen is the recipient of a number of awards for news reporting, public relations and sales and marketing. She was recently named 2005 Television Community Affairs/Marketing Director of the Year by the Houston Chapter of American Women in Radio and Television. In 2003, she won the AWRT Star Award for best television PSA/Community Involvement Campaign for the Spirit of Texas Toy Drive.
