The Houston Public Relations Society of America’s New Professionals Group and the Houston World Affairs Council Young Professionals Group invite you to attend “A View From Inside the White House: On the Record with Peter Roussel, former Deputy Press Secretary to President Reagan" on Thursday, May 19 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Baker Hughes, 3900 Essex Lane. The meeting will take place in the 2nd Floor Conference Room. Registration and networking begins at 6 p.m.
Roussel will discuss how he became involved in politics and how he came to work in the White House. He will share stories of his international experience, as well as provide insight into how young professionals can begin a career in government.
During his years in Washington and the White House, Roussel faced the toughest reporters. He has now captured the unique perspective he had as a presidential spokesman in his novel, Ruffled Flourishes, which takes the reader backstage at the White House. The result is a humorous look inside the White House by a former insider at the often "unseen layer" of life within those historic walls.
Copies of Roussel's book, Ruffled Flourishes, will be available for purchase for $15 each at the event. Roussel will sign copies of the book following his presentation.
