Where Responsibility Falls: A Public Relations Perspective of What Happened At Enron

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Mark Palmer had to cancel his appearance at the April luncheon, but agreed to come back and speak in June.

Listen June 18 as Mark Palmer, managing director of corporate communications and marketing for Enron Corp., tells what is was like being Enron''s media point man from its high-flying past through its eventual crash landing.

Palmer joined Enron in 1996 as Director of Public Relations and worked on deregulation issues at state and federal levels before being promoted to Vice President of the North American wholesale subsidiary, Enron North America. He is now responsible for Enron''s global corporate communications strategy and implementation, including public relations, corporate brand advertising and media relations.

PRSA Houston meets the third Wednesday of the month at the Houston City Club at Greenway Plaza. Networking begins at 11:30 a.m. A buffet lunch service begins at 11:45 a.m., followed by the meeting at noon. The luncheon fee is $25 for members, $35 for guests and $15 for students if the reservation is made by 5 p.m. on the Monday before the meeting.

Luncheon fees if reservations are made after Monday at 5 p.m., or for walk-ins, are $30 for members, $40 for guests and $15 for students. All ''no shows'' will be billed. Please bring your check payable to PRSA Houston to the meeting.
