Sports Marketing Workshop hosted by the New Pros

PRSA Houston New Pros will kickoff a professional development workshop on Thursday, May 25 focusing on media relations strategies in sports marketing.  Ryan Stanzel, director of communications for the Houston Aeros, will address the New Pros group on how media relations skills play a big role in getting the story told in an accurate and timely manner.  Topics at the workshop will also include pre and post-announcement strategies, lessons learned from the media during the season and how an image impacts community relations.  Be sure to mark your calendars and join us for this exciting sports marketing workshop!  This event is free for PRSA members who register online.  Members will be charged $3.00 at the door and non-members $5.00.

Ryan Stanzel is in his third season as the Houston Aeros'' director of communications.  He joined the Aeros in November 2003 from the Aeros'' ECHL (formerly the East Coast Hockey League) affiliate, the Louisiana IceGators.  A New York native, Stanzel was named the ECHL''s 2003 Media Relations Director of the Year.  Prior to his job in Louisiana, Stanzel was with The Sports Network in Philadelphia where he worked for one year after graduating from Wingate University in North Carolina.  While in college, Stanzel worked for the Myrtle Beach Pelicans baseball team and the Albany Firebirds arena football team.
