Professor Terry Hemeyer is the senior lecturer on the faculty of the University of Texas at Austin, College of Communication teaching communication management and public relations strategies. He is past chair and a current member of the College’s Advisory Council is on the faculty of the Rice University MBA program ...

Professor Terry Hemeyer is the senior lecturer on the faculty of the University of Texas at Austin, College of Communication teaching communication management and public relations strategies. He is past chair and a current member of the College’s Advisory Council is on the faculty of the Rice University MBA program teaching corporate crisis management and serves as executive counsel to Pierpont Communications.


Professor Hemeyer is one of the few public relations executives that have attained C-suite status beyond the typical communication function. In his career, he has been the top communications officer for multiple number one brands. He also served seven years on the top management team for a Fortune 150 company.  Hemeyer has been an executive VP for Edelman, served in the U. S. Air Force, was selected for the rank of Colonel and earned the Bronze Star while in Vietnam. He has personally handles issues for two U. S. Presidents.


Hemeyer holds the “Eyes of Texas” award presented by UT students for outstanding teaching, has been named practitioner of the year by the Texas PR Association and a pioneer by the USAF Public Affairs Association. Recently his corporate team was named a “large communication team of the year” and his agency team won the “non-profit” campaign of the year in PR Week’s national competition.


Hemeyer’s education includes the Stanford University graduate business school executive program, a M.A. in communication from the University of Denver, a B.S. in education from The Ohio State University and completion of Harvard University’s “case study teaching” program.
