 Rania_Mankarious_Photo_sm.jpg

Start the year off right with a fascinating presentation by Rania Mankarious, executive director of Houston’s leading public safety non-profit organization, Crime Stoppers—the largest such organization in the nation. As the leading public safety non-profit organization, Crime Stoppers is dedicated to fighting crime throughout the Houston area. Through its famed anonymous tip line 713-222-TIPS, Crime Stoppers of Houston has solved over 30,000 crimes, arrested over 25,000 felony fugitives and paid over $10,000,000 in cash rewards.  Known world over as a leader in crime prevention, Crime Stoppers of Houston uses the media to help reach people who can provide “tips” to solve crimes. Ms. Mankarious will tell us how using good communications tools in their efforts helps to keep us all safe.

Patterned after a similar effort in Arizona, Crime Stoppers was formed in in Houston in 1981 by a group of concerned citizens. That original investment in the safety of the Houston community has now grown into the most productive and successful Crime Stoppers organization worldwide. More than just a tip line, the organization uses innovation, expansion and innovative communications tactics to engage the community in important conversations about crime, public safety, and the protection of our most vulnerable citizens.

THANK YOU TO OUR LUNCHEON SPONSOR

Ms. Mankarious has a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and a Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the University of Houston Law Center.  She has an extensive resume with experience consulting for national companies, non-profit organizations and private public relations clients alike.  She began consulting with Crime Stoppers in 2006.

She has developed new communication strategies and ushered in two of the organization’s most profitable fundraisers and launched a philanthropic society of concerned mothers dubbed Mothers Against Crime.  She has developed innovative programs and applications to protect students, police and fire fighters, and is leading a Capital Campaign to renovate a city block in Midtown to house the first Headquarters of Crime Stoppers and the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Memorial Garden.  Come and hear how all of this fits together for the good of all Houstonians.
