Carmen M. Carter, is a servant leader with over 20 years of professional experience that spans academia; faith-based, nonprofit, food service distribution, and government organizations; as well as has having held leadership roles with Fortune 500 companies in the oil and gas industry. She collaborates with organizational leaders to “unleash the power of diversity on demand,” which is her trademarked approach to diversity and inclusion work. As an educator, her reputation for innovation and understanding in the D&I field places her among the foremost voices in the diversity and human capital community.
Carmen has the distinguished ability to direct full cycles of complex, multi-site human resources, compliance, and change management strategic implementations. She works with organizations to implement quality improvement projects through well-managed initiatives aligned with business outcomes.
Carmen has been honored as a “Woman of Excellence" by the Federation of Houston Professional Women; named "One of Corporate America's Top Diversity Leaders" by Diversity Inc.com, and her work on mentoring has been featured in publications such as Business Week Magazine.
As a voice to the community and inclusion thought-leader, Carmen’s internet radio show InsideDiversity – The Power of Intelligence™ captivated an audience of over 50,000 listeners around the globe. She has interviewed prominent world leaders such as Civil Rights icons, Rock and Roll Hall of Famers, Emmy Award® winning Actors, and Presidents and Prime Ministers on the Continent of Africa.
Carmen is a former faith-based director, a certified SQ21® Spiritual Intelligence Coach, a member of the John Maxwell Team® and is often a loaned executive and transformational leader who actively advocates for children with disabilities, and educating the nation on the value of diversity of thought, equity, mentoring, and inclusion for all. She is an alumnus of the United Way Project Blueprint, Leadership Houston Class XXI, serves on the Leadership Houston Board of Directors, and the HR Committee for the Girls Scouts of San Jacinto Council, one of the largest councils in the U.S.
Carmen has earned an Honorary Doctorate Degree, a MS Degree in Industrial and Labor Relations and a BS Degree in Accounting. Carmen and her family reside in Houston, Texas.
