Journalist and Houston native Austin Tice dreamed of working as a foreign correspondent, so parents Marc and Debra Tice weren’t surprised when Austin headed overseas to cover the Syrian conflict in early 2012. The former UH student vanished in August 2012, and many believe he was kidnapped by Islamic extremists. Amidst confusion and reeling emotions, the Tices were thrust into the international spotlight, quickly learning about crisis communications and media relations. Debra Tice will share the ups and downs of this learning curve from the early days of his suspected capture to how they have endured this crisis. Join us Thursday, Jan. 14 at the PRSA Houston monthly luncheon for a powerful presentation.
