About the Legacy Award Winner
George Nelson, APR, former president of PRSA Houston, is the 2012 Legacy Award winner. George, who is also known as George Barnette, has been a reporter, adjunct faculty instructor, public relations agency owner (Brown Nelson Public Relations) and a FEMA public information officer with many years of community service as well. As a mentor to many individuals who are still active in PRSA Houston, George is also known as a co-chair of the Southwest Communicators Conference & Exhibition, a program and professional development chair who originated the idea of special interest groups and a builder of relationships. He even served as an officer on the Southwest District of PRSA and tried to make it an information-sharing body, long before emails or the internet existed.
A silent auction was held during the Excalibur Awards Gala and benefits the Public Relations Foundation of Houston. If you are purchased an item, but did not pick it up, please contact Justin Concepcion .
