Position Summary:

Develop and execute a community strategy that drives sales, grows positive affinity, builds company recognition and strengthens customer and associate loyalty as well as our overall brand. Role model and demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety of others.

Essential job functions:

  • Develop relationships with organizations that impact our communities and store sales
  • Ensure partnerships and donations are fiscally responsible
  • Help lead the district implementation of the Perishable Donations Program in conjunction with local food banks
  • Support the engagement and pride of associates through volunteer programs and other efforts to give back to local organizations
  • Proactively generate ideas for driving sales, growing footprint of company in community and seek company recognition opportunities, in addition to assisting with media opportunities
  • Seek out and review partnerships that are smart, fit our goals/demos and are impactful
  • Coordinate planning and attend area community events as Kroger representative; ensure activation is successful
  • Lead, plan, leverage and execute district community marketing sales programs - including Souper Bowl of Caring, Bringing Hope to the Table, Stuff the School Bus and Giving Hope a Hand for maximum results in both sales and awareness
  • Understand important issues as it relates to store specific neighborhoods and seek out community partners to support these issues
  • Plan and execute successful sales driving and community focused events in stores
  • Conduct presentations to local community and civic organizations
  • Keep stores informed of programs and results by attending meetings, communicating concisely and hosting conference calls or planning sessions
  • Assist managers with daily Public Affairs & Public Relations functions. Communicate with stores, vendors and all levels of management as needed
  • Position the district as a community leader in supporting organizations that target: fighting hunger, health and wellness, education and the advancement of diversity as well as events in response to natural disasters and other corporate/division priorities or signature charities/causes
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation

Minimum position qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written, including polished presentation skills, telephone etiquette
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Great interpersonal skills, including oral communication, listening skills and diplomacy
  • Ability to successfully execute assignments with little or no supervision
  • Ability to work individually or as part of a team in a fast-paced work environment and a willingness to help all members of the department
  • Knowledge of accounting rules and standard practices

Desired previous job experience:

  • Retail Store Management or industry specific experience (2+ Years)
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills with high levels of attention to detail, prioritization, managing multiple tasks and ability to safeguard confidential information
