Petri Darby, APR
Petri Darby, APR, is the vice president of the PRSA Houston Board of Directors. He manages PR/corporate communications for Jenkens & Gilchrist, one of the nation''s top 100 law firms and is the president of darbyDarnit, a freelance writing business (www.darbyDarnit.com). His professional background spans non-profit and corporate arenas on both the agency and client sides. Petri is volunteer for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Texas Gulf Coast, helping with public relations duties as well as wish-granting. He also is learning how to fly fish and play guitar. Most importantly, he and his wife are expecting their first kiddo in February ''06.
Julie B. Fix, APR
Julie B. Fix, APR, is president and principal of Fix & Associates, Inc. Public Relations and teaches public relations/communications courses as a clinical assistant professor at the University of Houston. A member of PRSA since 1991, she was accredited in February 1996. She served on the Excalibur Awards Committee in 1992, as Professional Development co-chairman in 1993-94, chapter liaison to the PRSSA Chapter at the University of Houston in 1998-99 and as an Assembly Delegate 2003-05. She has been an Oral Examiner and Coach for the Universal Accreditation Program for the Houston Chapter for many years. Fix is past president of the Texas Public Relations Association (TPRA), past chairman and a current trustee of the Public Relations Foundation of Texas, and she manages the annual Silver Spur/Best of Texas Awards program. She has won awards for writing and for successful communications programs from the Texas Press Association, TPRA, The Press Club of Houston and PRSA Houston.
Terri Larson is Senior Public Affairs Advisor at Enbridge Energy Company. Prior to joining Enbridge, Terri served as Associate Director of Communications for Planned Parenthood of Houston and Southeast Texas and Manager of External Communications for Baker Botts LLP. A member of PRSA Houston since 2002, Terri serves as the chapter’s Professional Development Chair and is a member of the Diversity Committee. She previously served as Chair of PR Day 2004, an event that made a profit of $14,000 for the chapter. Looking ahead to 2006, Terri is co-chairing a version of PR Day for students and new professionals. She is also a member of TPRA. She is active within the natural gas industry, working on crisis communications planning and an industry-wide initiative to develop a communications plan for the natural gas transmission industry. Terri is pursuing a graduate degree in Marketing and plans to begin work towards her APR designation once the MBA program is completed in summer 2006.
Shelli Manning is a public relations professional with 18 years of experience in strategic public relations and integrated marketing communications. Shelli has eight years of agency experience with business to business and consumer clients in the animal health, sporting goods insurance and transportation industries. She has 10 years of corporate background, primarily with Sprint, the Kansas City Area Development Council and The Menninger Clinic. She is responsible for the launch of Web sites goodnewsforpets.com, goodnewsforsports.com and the relaunch of menningerclinic.com in 2005. Shelli has been a member of PRSA since 1991 and served as the vice president of Professional Development and chair of the Media Roundtable Committee in Kansas City and currently serves as Intern Chair in Houston. She is a graduate of Fort Hays State University in Hays, KS, with a bachelor of arts in communications and Baker University in Overland Park, KS, with a master of liberal arts.
Lisa M. Martin
Lisa M. Martin has more than 12 years of professional experience in the public relations field, with expertise in investor and media relations, corporate identity and Web site development, and employee communications. She recently joined Lyondell Chemical as manager of corporate and employee communications, where she will be responsible for corporate and financial communications, as well as strategic oversight of global employee communications. Lisa has managed corporate communications programs for Marathon Oil, Cooper Industries, PanEnergy Corp and, most recently, RBC Mortgage. Her work has been honored with local, regional and national awards from PRSA, TPRA, IABC and the National Association of Investors Corporation. She is a long-time volunteer with PRSA Houston, serving in past years on multiple Media Day and Excalibur Awards committees, as a mentor to new professionals and as newsletter editor. For the last four years, she has served as Webmaster of PRSA Houston’s Web site, overseeing two major redesigns. Lisa holds a bachelor’s in Communications - Journalism from the University of Texas at Arlington.
David B. McKinney, ABC, APR
David B. McKinney, ABC, APR is manager of external affairs for the Shell chemical plant and refinery in Deer Park, a position he has held since 2000. He has been with Shell for nearly 25 years in a variety of communications positions at facilities throughout the U.S., including Shell''s corporate office in downtown Houston. A former newspaper reporter, McKinney earned a bachelor''s degree in journalism and a master''s degree in mass communications. He "moonlights" as an adjunct professor of public relations and mass communications at the University of Houston main campus. Accredited by PRSA and IABC, he enjoys his Harley and photography. He and his wife are the parents of three grown children: a U.S. Army staff sergeant just back from Iraq; a 2005 UH communications graduate who works at de La Garza Public Relations; and a recent high school graduate considering his next challenge.
Mabel Menefee is a public relations consultant with over two decades of experience in corporate public relations and community affairs. Her background includes working for a major energy services company for more than 23 years. During that time she successfully transitioned through several mergers and acquisitions within the organization. Most recently she was manager of public affairs for Panhandle Energy where she was primarily responsible for public relations, employee communications, community relations, philanthropy, special events and graphics design. Menefee is president of the Public Relations Foundation of Houston, PRSA Houston’s scholarship endowment, is a member of the Texas Public Relations Association, Leadership Houston, and past president of the Corporate Community Relations Council of Greater Houston. She was awarded the Houston Area Association of Volunteer Administrators’ Hanlon Award for outstanding volunteer leadership; and was part of a team that won two PRSA Silver Anvil awards. She earned a journalism/public relations degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
Kelly Papinchak is the Communications Director for Schipul – The Web Marketing Company where she develops, implements and evaluates public relations strategies. Kelly is a 2002 Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of Houston. She has articles published in the Encyclopedia of Public Relations and chairs the University Relations, New Professionals and Diversity Committees for PRSA Houston. Kelly serves PRSA National as the New Professionals Chapter Development Committee Chair. Kelly was named PRSA Houston’s 2004 Young PR Professional of the Year and received the 2005 International Femtor™ Emerging Leader Award from the eWomen Network. Kelly’s community affiliations include the ESCAPE Family Resource Center, Volunteer Houston, Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council and Literacy Advance of Houston.
Eydie Pengelly, APR
Innovative. Energetic. Resourceful. These words describe Eydie Pengelly, APR, a seasoned marketing communications professional who is a 20-year member of the Houston PRSA Chapter. Eydie’s PRSA involvement includes serving as an Assembly Delegate, Board Member, Program Chairman, Membership Chairman, Media Day Chairman, Excalibur Awards Committee Member, Team Captain for Create-a-Thon, and a tireless judge of communications awards entries. One of Eydie’s proudest accomplishments was leading the Shell Chemicals team that earned the 2003 Grand Excalibur Award. Eydie is principal of Eydie Pengelly Marketing Communications, a firm specializing in developing and implementing communications programs for business-to-business marketers. Other professional memberships include American Marketing Association, Leadership Houston and Baylor University Alumni Association, and she serves the community through The Junior League of Houston, Inc.
Scott Scheffler, APR
Scott Scheffler, APR has been an active member of the PRSA Houston Chapter since 1997. He became an accredited public relations professional when he passed the APR exam in May 2005. Scheffler recently joined Marathon Oil Company as an external communications specialist in the public affairs department. Prior to joining Marathon, he worked for Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP’s communications group as senior writer responsible for media relations. Prior to working at Chevron Phillips Chemical, Scheffler spent almost six years at Pierpont Communications Inc. where he held roles of increasing responsibility. Scheffler is a graduate of the University of Houston where he obtained a BA degree in Journalism.
Bill Zander, communications specialist at Texas Children''s Hospital, served as co-chair of the 2005 Excalibur Awards. Bill has been a member of the Houston chapter since 1995. He currently serves as a PRSA mentor to a college student, has served on the planning committee for PR Day and as a judge for other PRSA chapter competitions. Bill has received numerous awards from PRSA Houston, IABC Houston and the Texas Public Relations Association. Before joining Texas Children''s in 1999, he worked at Pierpont Communications for three years. He is a 1993 journalism graduate of the University of Missouri and received a master''s degree from the University of Texas in 1995.

Chris Bozman, APR
In her 25 years of experience in the public relations field, Chris Bozman has served in a variety of industries, from banking to petrochemical to consumer marketing, and has developed expertise across a wide range of public relations disciplines, including strategic planning, media and community relations, organizational communication, marketing communication and crisis and issues management. Currently, Chris applies her extensive background as Manager, Public Relations for Shell Oil Company, primarily serving as a focal point for Shell’s U.S. media relations activities. Chris is an accredited member of PRSA, has received numerous awards from both PRSA and the International Association of Business Communicators, and has served in various capacities for local chapters of both organizations, including several years as Accreditation Chair for PRSA Houston. Chris has served previously as an Assembly Delegate and Board Member for PRSA, as well as a board member of the Public Relations Foundation of Houston. Chris holds a bachelor’s degree in English and sociology and a master’s degree in counseling and guidance from Trinity University.
Catherine Burch Graham, APR
For nearly 20 years, Catherine Burch Graham has served in communications-related fields of marketing, public relations and news media. Graham joined Houston-based LifeGift Organ Donation Center as its first-ever director of communications. Graham’s career began in the news media at CNN. She later transitioned to healthcare PR for The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Later, she coordinated strategic initiatives for the 13-hospital Memorial Hermann Healthcare System and served as director of communications for the Harris County Medical Society. Graham is former president of the Houston Chapter of The Association for Women In Communications. Two years ago, she received her accreditation in public relations through PRSA. Sally I Evans, APR, Public Relations Counsel, advises the managements of small publicly traded companies, those involved in mergers and acquisitions, and those planning to grow. She served 10 years as an Assembly delegate for the Houston Chapter/PRSA and was instrumental in getting the national office to provide more complete financial information on a timelier basis. Past chapter positions: Accreditation chairman, newsletter editor, secretary, director and scholarship committee chair. Southwest District offices: chairman, vice chairman and treasurer. Other professional organizations: Texas Public Relations Association, director; Houston Chapter/National Investor Relations Institute, membership VP; Women’s Finance Exchange, director. She also serves as executive director of the Houston Private Equity Association. She holds an MBA in finance from the University of Houston and a BSJ (with honors) in public relations from the University of Florida.

Susan Schmaeling, APR
Susan Schmaeling, APR, has more than 22 years of experience in the non-profit, corporate and agency public relations, marketing and advertising arena. As the Principal of Susan Schmaeling Public Relations and Marketing, she serves a client portfolio of non-profit and cultural organizations. Before starting her consultancy in 1997, she was the Public Relations and Marketing Director of the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston for more than eight years. A native of New Jersey, Schmaeling graduated with a B.A. in Communications from Douglass College, Rutgers University. She has been a member of the Houston chapter since 1990; was accredited by PRSA in 1993 and has since served the chapter as an accreditation oral examiner, assistant treasurer; Board secretary; and Job Bank coordinator. She currently serves as secretary for the Public Relations Foundation of Houston.
Aaron H. Woods, APR
Aaron Woods, APR is the regional public relations manager for Lyondell Chemical Company. He has 15 years experience in the public relations field and an active PRSA member since 1994. He was elected to the PRSA Houston Chapter Board of Directors in 2004 and is currently serving as the Chapter Treasurer and co-chair for the Accreditation Committee. At Lyondell, he manages local community, media and government relations, as well as serving on the emergency response team for the East Region. Prior to Lyondell, Woods served at El Paso Corporation for approximately five years developing reputation management programs, corporate emergency response plans, and community outreach initiatives. Additional appointments included the Ocean Drilling Program, an international scientific research program where he served as Public Information Officer, and an Account Executive at the advertising firm Tracey-Locke (now BBDO) in Dallas. He resides in Tomball with his wife, Linda, and two children.
